Kehinde Wiley: African American portrait painter who specializes in realism paintings of black people. He juxtaposes the societal standards of art and history with the black imagery. One of my focuses in my art studies is color and realism. I think Wiley is a perfect example of an artist within my area of study because of his subject and the bright colors he uses within his art. As an African American woman, I think being able to use Wiley as inspiration will allow me to fully conceptualize what type of message I want to communicate to the masses using my art.
